Version 2026.20

Multi-Port Valve

A smart-object symbol for a 3-way or 4-way valve, showing which ports are currently connected.

In Studio

In Studio, double-click Multi-Port Valve in the Symbols category of the Components panel. It is added to the open view, where you can drag it into place.

When to use

Use Multi-Port Valve for a diverter or selector valve with more than two ports — a standard Valve's single-stem body cannot represent more than two connections.

Properties

PropertyTypeDefaultDescription
ValueString(none)The overall device state — same Closed/Open/Fault contract as Valve's Value, used for the whole-symbol paint on Fault or when there is no live data.
Flow PathString(none)Which ports are currently connected, as any text naming their port letters (e.g. AB, A,B, A/B all mean ports A and B are connected). A port named in Flow Path renders in the open color; every other port renders in the closed color. A value that names no known port renders every port closed.
Ports3, 43Number of ports: 3 (default) or 4.
LabelStringValveThe caption shown below the symbol.
Show Captiontrue, falsetrueShows or hides the caption (the name and state word) under the symbol. Off also gives that height back to the drawing — use it when a separate label template sits beside the symbol.
Closed ColorColor#808080The color for a port not on the current flow path. Defaults to the HMI palette's stopped-state color.
Open ColorColor#FFFFFFThe color for a port on the current flow path. Defaults to the HMI palette's running-state color.
Fault ColorColor#E12D39The whole-symbol color on Fault. Defaults to the HMI palette's priority-1 alarm color.

Binding

Click Bind… on the Value property and bind it to a tag or an expression to drive the live value.

This binding is read-only — the component never writes to the tag.

Flow Path is a second, independent binding — see that field. Per-port coloring only applies while the overall state is Closed or Open; a Fault or no-data state paints the whole symbol instead of per-port, since neither state has a trustworthy flow path.
