Uninstalling

Windows

Uninstall Raylux from Settings ▸ Apps or Programs and Features, or run the setup program again and choose Remove.

This removes:

  • The RayluxNexus service.
  • Everything under C:\Program Files\Raylux.
  • The Windows Firewall rules the installer created.

It does not remove:

  • C:\ProgramData\Raylux — your project file, historian, audit log, logs, secrets and certificates.
  • The Microsoft C++ runtime, which other software may depend on.

Your data is kept on purpose

An uninstall that deleted a plant's history would be unforgivable, so the data directory is marked permanent. If you are decommissioning the machine and genuinely want it gone, delete C:\ProgramData\Raylux by hand afterwards — and take a backup first if there is any chance you will want the history.

Studio and Lens are separate entries in the same list and are removed independently.

Checking it went cleanly

powershell
sc query RayluxNexus # should report it does not exist
Get-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName 'Raylux*' # should return nothing
Get-ChildItem 'C:\Program Files\Raylux' # should not exist
Get-ChildItem 'C:\ProgramData\Raylux' # your data, still there

Linux

Installed from the package

bash
sudo apt remove raylux-nexus

This stops and disables the service and removes everything under /opt/raylux.

Installed from source

There is no uninstall target. Stop and disable the service, then remove what the install placed:

bash
sudo systemctl disable --now raylux-nexus

sudo rm -f /usr/local/bin/raylux-nexus
sudo rm -rf /usr/local/share/raylux
sudo rm -f /usr/local/lib/systemd/system/raylux-nexus.service
sudo rm -f /usr/local/lib/sysusers.d/raylux-nexus.conf
sudo systemctl daemon-reload

The data directory /var/lib/raylux and logs in /var/log/raylux are left behind, as on Windows — including on apt purge. That is deliberate: it holds your project, your history, your audit log and your TLS key material. Remove it by hand if you mean to.

The raylux service account is also left in place; remove it with sudo userdel raylux if nothing else uses it.
